Clinical Supervision

I am an IPTUK-accredited Clinical Supervisor with experience providing supervision in both NHS and private settings in Merseyside, as well as online supervision across the UK. I work with therapists who are training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy, those newly qualified in IPT, and clinicians with established experience who wish to continue developing their practice.

I aim to offer a supportive, reflective space to explore both the clinical and interpersonal aspects of therapeutic work. Supervision is collaborative and tailored to the developmental stage and professional needs of each supervisee, with a strong emphasis on maintaining fidelity to the IPT model while responding thoughtfully to individual client presentations.

Newly Qualified IPT Practitioners

The transition from training into independent practice can be both exciting and challenging. Newly qualified practitioners often face questions around maintaining model fidelity, adapting IPT to different client presentations, and developing confidence in their clinical decision-making.

Supervision during this stage can support:

  • consolidation of IPT skills

  • reflective practice and clinical reasoning

  • managing uncertainty and avoiding clinical drift

  • developing a sustainable and thoughtful way of working

Experienced Practitioners

For more experienced clinicians, supervision provides space for ongoing professional reflection and development. This may include working with more complex presentations, refining IPT practice, or reflecting on interpersonal dynamics within the therapeutic relationship.

My supervisory approach values both adherence to the evidence base and thoughtful flexibility where client needs require careful consideration. I place particular emphasis on the interpersonal aspects of therapy, offering space to explore the therapeutic relationship, relational patterns, and the impact of the work on the therapist.

My Supervisory Approach

My approach to supervision is grounded in the principles of Interpersonal Psychotherapy and informed by my background as a Registered Mental Health Nurse with nearly 20 years’ experience in mental health services. I aim to create a supportive, reflective environment where supervisee’s feel able to think openly, develop professionally, and maintain ethical, effective IPT practice.

Supervision is available online and in person (where appropriate).
